What APM and CPS actually measure

APM stands for actions per minute, the total number of meaningful inputs you fire off in sixty seconds, while CPS means clicks per second over a short burst. This APM clicker turns both into a simple score: every click in the zone counts as one action, and the tool converts your pace into a live CPS reading and an extrapolated APM. It is the same idea competitive players obsess over in StarCraft and League of Legends. Top StarCraft professionals routinely sustain well over 300 APM during a match, which is a good reference point for just how fast trained hands can go.

Why hand speed matters, and where it stops mattering

Fast hands genuinely help in real games: managing macro in an RTS, chaining rotations and combos in a MOBA, or simply executing a plan before your opponent reacts. A player who can turn a decision into inputs quickly buys themselves more time to think. Past a certain threshold, though, raw clicking speed stops being the bottleneck, and precision plus decision making decide the outcome. Two hundred clean, purposeful actions almost always beat four hundred wasted ones.

How to improve your clicking speed

Start by warming up your hands and wrists so your muscles are loose before you go for a record, the same way you would before any physical effort. Aim for consistency rather than a single lucky burst, since a steady rhythm you can repeat is worth more than a spike you cannot. Above all, avoid mashing blindly: even in a pure speed test, training yourself to make deliberate, useful actions carries over far better to real matches than empty spam.

Questions players ask

What is a good APM?

Top StarCraft professionals sustain well over 300 APM during a match, which is the usual reference for trained hands. For most players the useful number is your own: run the test a few times, note your average and watch it climb as your hands warm up. Past a certain speed, precision and decisions decide games, not raw clicks.

What is the difference between APM and CPS?

CPS is clicks per second over a short burst; APM is actions per minute, the pace you would hold over a full minute. The clicker counts every click in the zone, shows a live CPS and converts your pace into an APM figure, so the two numbers describe the same run at two scales.

Why three durations?

Sprint (5 seconds) measures your maximum burst, Standard (10 seconds) is the classic test, Endurance (30 seconds) shows the APM you can actually sustain. Comparing your sprint with your endurance tells you whether you fade, which is the figure that matters in a long game.

Is the APM test free, and does it save my score?

It is free, needs no account and runs entirely in your browser. Your best APM is saved locally on your device, so you can come back and try to beat it.
